He also said it is important to use four winter tires, not just two. They will still work during warm weather, but they will be unusable for winter conditions afterward. 15 to April 15.ĭitmore said snow tires are made of softer rubber, so it is a good idea to take them off during the summer. Mike Vogel, service manager at Flynn’s, said that snow tires have wider tread to accommodate snow and slush and the tires have holes in them to allow for studs. He said it is a good idea to consider getting snow tires, especially in this area. “That’s not going to get you through the winter,” Ditmore said, noting that tread should be at least double that measurement to handle winter weather.Īlthough the “penny test,” where you stick a penny in the tread and if the top of Abe Lincoln’s head is exposed that means there’s not enough tread, is popular, Ditmore said tread can be measured simply with a $1 tread gauge meter. The minimum tread required by the state is 2/32 of an inch, but Ditmore said that is not enough to handle snow. Roger Ditmore, a manager at Flynn’s Tire and Auto Service in Butler, said the first thing that drivers should check is tire tread. ![]() If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.Īs a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. With colder weather approaching, tire dealers are encouraging vehicle owners to make sure their tires are safe. I don't suspect that any man that works here would have their wife's vehicle serviced at the garage at butler tires for less on Rt ************************* in butler **. WHAT IF THERE WERE A TRUE EMERGENCY ? IF THEY'RE ACTUALLY even doing the majority of work theyre claiming and are itemizing and charging me for, then that means they're putting utter garbage on my vehicle. I've never had to replace an e-brake on a vehicle - much less twice- and never by any friends or colleagues twice in the same 18 months. When braking free the corroded e brake pad it crumbled into piecesFind out last week that this $260 repair was a load of c*** and my e-brake is 100% useless and DOESN'T even WORK AT ALL.that's after being replaced/repaired TWICE by the same garage. My "e-brake" was repaired/replaced in 2020 for inspection and just a month and 1/2 ago it (the e-brake pad) literally fell off into my tire and brake and locked up my back tire costing me an additional $260+ to fix again ($130 in 2020) not 18 months later. Since then, less than ****** **************** passed, I have replaced both control arms and a tie rod/ball joint (at another garage) that they "replaced" and charged me for my 20 inspections. The $1400 does NOT include tires- INSPECTION ONLY. I spent approx $1400 there on my suspension and brakes for inspection of 2020. They have decent tires at a decent price, however, their service center is FAR LESS THAN DESIRABLE. I now refuse to spend another ***** here and I will tell you why. ![]() Ive done business with this company for more than 2 decades. ![]()
